Blessings to you in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ!
We have wonderful news to share of how God has placed Mexico on our hearts and how He has opened an amazing opportunity for us to go and serve the people there this spring. In 2015, a team of 21 men, women and youths from our church, Open Door Presbyterian Church (ODPC), will travel to Ensenada, Baja, Mexico to build a home — literally from the ground up—for a local Mexican family.
We will work with a missionary organization called YUGO Ministries (www.yugo.org), which connects teams from the U.S. and Canada with the local churches to help care for the poor by building homes, facilitating feeding programs, providing emergency aid, organizing children’s programs, and running children's homes. This spring, we will be working with YUGO’s Construction Ministry in not just building a house, but a home, and in building relationships with a family. We cannot do this alone. Would you partner with us? Financially, each member of the team must raise approximately $1400 by March 14, 2015, to help pay for the costs of travel, lodging, and the materials needed for building the home.
You can contribute in several ways: hand it to one of us; mail it to ODPC (2999 Centreville Road, Herndon, VA 20171); or give online (http://missions.odpcec.org/yugo). To ensure that your contributions are routed correctly, please be sure to note “Mexico” on your check (payable to ODPC) or on PayPal (in the Merchants Notes section). Most importantly, we need your prayers! Even if you are unable to support us financially, please pray for us.
For about a third of the members on the team, this will be a first mission trip. Yet we are all excited to be able to volunteer, go, and experience the amazing gift of giving physically and spiritually to impact the two families. But even more, we believe that God will use this opportunity to bless each of us in ways that will expand our capacity to love and serve. We ask and invite you to pray with us and for us—that we grow deeper in love with God and with those He loves, that we experience the joys of being his hands and feet through service, and that we safely return from our journey with great testimonies of Christ’s love.
Thank you and God bless!
